Acorn Electron
RH-W5N2Acorn's cut-down Beeb for the home: one custom ULA doing the work of the Model B's several, which halved the cost and roughly halved the speed. It arrived to enormous demand at Christmas 1983 and Acorn could not build them, a failure that cost the company its independence. As hardware it is a neat piece of integration; as history it is the machine that broke Acorn, and the ULA is the part that fails.
